The notion of Spirit-Matter was proposed by Teilhard de Chardin as a possible solution to the problem of the hardly conceivable relationships between spirit and matter, soul and body. According to him, the world is not made up of two distinct substances, spirit on the one hand, matter on the other, but of a single entity, with two faces: Spirit-Matter.
