Philosopher and theologian, professor at the Jesuit Faculties of Paris (Centre Sèvres) and at the Major Seminary of Paris, Michel Sales was a great specialist in the thought of Cardinal Henri de Lubac (1896-1991), whose complete works he co-edited, as well as that of Father Gaston Fessard (1897-1978). He was also a connoisseur of the thought of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.
